WhatsApp automation that doesn't annoy customers

Most WhatsApp programmes fail for a boring reason: they treat the channel like email with better open rates. Because delivery is near-guaranteed, teams over-send, templates get rejected, and quality ratings collapse within weeks.

Start from the opt-in. Capture consent at a moment where the customer already wants a reply — order confirmation, appointment booking, or a catalogue enquiry — and record where and when it happened. That record is what protects your business number later.

Then design sequences around intent, not calendar dates. A cart nudge two hours after abandonment converts; the same message on a fixed Friday broadcast reads as spam. Give every journey an obvious exit and a fast route to a human.

Finally, instrument it. Track reply rate and block rate per template, not just conversions. A template with great short-term revenue and a rising block rate is quietly costing you the channel.
